1901 to 1949
| A number of years ago I saw
a one page calendar that showed all the Ford
pickup trucks from the first one to the present day. I thought , what a nice idea. I thought that I might try something similar with some of the car pictures I have collected. I have been collecting pictures of Studebakers, Packards Nash, Hudson and Jeeps and many more for some time now and I first wrote a web page on the Studebaker. Then one on Jeeps and Packard followed. Since then I have many page on old cars and pickup trucks. These pictures came for a number of sources including web pages of the manufacture, news groups and my own. Since most of these pictures came from news groups there may be a chance that your car is shown here. I would like to invite any one
that has a favourite

| Georges parents started a Driveaway service of General Motors of
Oshawa in 1929, from a taxi service picking up dealers at the train station
that would arrive from Toronto / Montreal. In those days a dealer
stood a the railing in the head office, while a Mr. Wilson called out the
vehicle’s as they were handed to him [black 2 door Chevy] 1st one with
a payment got the car, and would drive it home, Dad offered to take any
extra cars they bought and deliver them. This led to only one person
from a dealership coming to Oshawa, next step was on delivery he would
pick up their order needs & with a blank check in hand purchase &
deliver them, next obtain parts orders, submit them to the parts department
in Oshawa, take to the dealers in his busses & pickups. They
had 2 35 passenger busses 5 trips to Montreal a week, 2 my Mother 3 my
Dad.
Truck transport came in 1935, the dealer served originally were still using
Charlton Transport in the 80’s.
The Olds being transported come to be from the great niece of an early Carrier [Maris} along with others, the Lady firmly believes it was an early rig that Maris had, however on close examination it was a US outfit that my American expert can’t even identify the maker of the carrier. |
